Who We Are

We are Gunnar and Barbara Erickson, the owners. Our son, Brent, is our booking manager, and is available to answer your reservation requests.

We are excited to welcome you to our beach retreat, Sendas del Mar. Sendas del Mar was created as a place to relax, engage the senses, reflect local style and provide a way to live luxuriously, yet close to nature. You will enjoy the natural beauty of the area while you stay in one of our eco-luxury villas designed by Gustavo and Karina Jasso.

Key features of Sendas del Mar are the easy airport access, gorgeous swimmable beach, trusted on-site caretakers, and a location close to the local fishing village and lagoon of Barra de Potosi. The Playa Blanca beach, steps away from the private infinity pool, offers nine miles of engaging vistas and great walking.

Being close to the village of Barra de Potosi makes it easy to walk to beachfront restaurants, evening taco stands, and to enjoy the local produce and simple grocery stores. The lagoon is a magical place with divers bird-watching, fishing boats, whale watching (in-season) and tour guides to take you exploring. Sendas del Mar is close to Zihuantanejo and Ixtapa if you want to experience tourist locations or enjoy shopping adventures. Taxi drivers are available for the trips and you don’t need a car.

After twenty years in Mexico, our favorite chapter of life by far, we have moved back to Oregon, where Barbara grew up. We are currently looking for buyers who can appreciate the full rental seasons we have developed, as well as the natural beauty and joy of living with nature. If you are interested in the property, connect with us here. Or check www.mexicobeachfrontforsale.com.

We look forward to you visiting and getting to know this beautiful corner of the world!

Local Area

Barra de Potosi, Playa Blanca and Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo offer lots of activities on the beach, in the laguna, and in the markets and towns. Come, explore this beautiful area.

Along this stunning coastline, Barra de Potosi stands out as a gem for its' natural beauty and local culture, from the massive Laguna de Potosi, to the striking point Guamalule, the rock islands of Los Morros, and the good swimming beaches steps from your Villa.

Sendas del Mar is just a three minute walk from the village of Barra de Potosi, a traditional Mexican fishing village with three short streets and fewer than 500 residents. The village has a few small grocery stores and simple restaurants. The lagoon and beachfront host a dozen or so large open air restaurants called enramadas that offer fresh seafood meals during the day.

The village sits at the mouth of a large lagoon ringed by mangroves that provide the launching area for the small open fishing boats that the local men take out everyday to hand line red snapper as well as tuna and dorado.  Pelicans and shore birds flock the shore while frigate birds and boobies soar overhead.

Heading north, Playa Blanca stretches north for nine miles along a shallow bay ringed by a pure sand beach. The beach has a smattering of vacation homes, a few B&B’s and restaurants, and the homes of locals, but by tourist standards it is largely undeveloped and remains very simple, peaceful and laid back.
